We are an innovative and progressive Groundworks and Civil Engineering Company. Our Head Office is based in Swindon and our workforce operate within a 50 mile radius across Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Somerset, Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Hampshire and Worcestershire.

Professional Service

Our people are our biggest asset and safety is at the heart of everything we do. We implement all current Health and Safety legislation to ensure the highest of standards are met and never compromised. We also work closely with an external Health and Safety directive who carry out monthly audits, training and monitoring of all sites and staff.

We are really passionate about our local community and like to show our support where we can. Working with local charities, sports teams and events across the county. This is all part of our commitment in helping to build a better future for all of us.

Our Board of Directors

Richard Williams

Chairman (Non Executive)


A Board Director and Non Executive for the last 20 years, with extensive experience in Property Development, Construction and Management across the sectors of Housing, Healthcare and Retail in both the public and private sectors.

Richard has recently been involved in the construction of a £50 million Hospital Development in the Midlands and as Managing Director with McCarthy and Stone has built over 1000 apartments. He has also recently been involved in the setting up of a construction management company within the Housing Sector, having done something similar in the commercial sector in the past. Richard brings a wealth of business experience to the MLJ team.

Together with Lee Andrews and Michael Pratt, Richard sits on the MLJ Group Holdings Ltd Board as Chairman (Non Executive).

Michael Pratt

Operations Director


Michael brings a wealth of commercial knowledge to MLJ. A Board Director for over 10 years and as Founder and Co-owner of Creativ Company UK Ltd has gained extensive experience operating a SME business in the UK.

Michael is responsible for ensuring that the business has the best working environment and processes. Constantly evaluating how the business operates and overseeing the implementation of company guidelines and strategies.

Ensuring financial targets and other agreed project specific profit forecasts are met. Reviewing working practices and that the business operates within the company’s mission statement and MLJ Group 3 key values Integrity, Quality and Value. Also approving finance for Plant, Machinery and Equipment needs for the company.

Together with Lee Andrews, Michael is joint CEO of MLJ Group Holdings Ltd and sits on the Board as Operations Director for MLJ Plant Hire Ltd.

Lee Andrews

Construction Director


Lee has been in the Groundwork’s Industry for more than 25 years and has had a number of roles including Ground Worker, Plant and Machine Operator, Site Foreman and Construction Director.

Managing all external works on MLJ sites ranging from 4 to 90 units with multiple staff on each project. Providing site programs and taking great pride in delivering quality workman ship and meeting and exceeding site program targets. Constantly working with his onsite leadership teams ensuring MLJ core values are met through education and training.

Lee heads the MLJ Group health and safety directive and with his management team takes a highly proactive approach to the implementation of health and safety across all areas of work on site.

Together with Michael Pratt, Lee is joint CEO of MLJ Group Holdings Ltd and sits on the Board as Construction Director for MLJ Plant Hire Ltd.

Alex Roberts

Commercial Director


Alex brings a wealth of commercial experience to MLJ and has worked as a Quantity Surveyor for over 15 years with vast experience in Professional, Main Contractor and Sub Contractor areas of surveying. An impeccable track record for delivering projects that exceed our customers’ expectations and within budget.

His quantity surveying experience covers a range of projects and with his team has a proven capability for maximising the financial efficiency of projects through the diligent application of contractual and commercial practices with the minimum of risk.

Along with his leadership team has developed great trading partnerships with our Clients following the successful delivery of works completed and prides himself in forming great working relationships with our key supplier chain partners, ensuring working together to provide the very best quality, value and on time delivery for our Clients.
